The bus station: Jersey’s new tourism hub

Saturday 09 December 2017

If you find yourself in need of advice on where to visit next year, from 2018 your port of call will be… the bus station.

Previously housed at Liberation Place, the information hub moved to Jersey Museum in February 2016 as part of a two-year partnership with Ports of Jersey, which delivered 'front-of-house' services. But Visit Jersey research found that some visitors thought that it was hard to find.

In July, they started searching for a new location that would both welcome tourists and give them a flavour of the ‘real Jersey’ and all it has to offer from April 2018 to 2021.

But while potato plantations or panoramic seaside shacks might spring to mind for a true ‘genuine Jersey’ welcome, it’s been decided that the perfect location for that is the island’s bus station.

Liberty Bus will give information to islanders about all Jersey has to offer to sunseekers and history lovers alike from Spring 2018.

Kevin Hart, Director of Liberty Bus, said that the company were “delighted” to have been chosen.

“We want to make every visit to Jersey special. Our approach will combine our award-winning customer service, a great location already used by many visitors and a staff team who are really passionate about what Jersey has to offer. We can’t wait to get started.”

Keith Beecham, CEO of Visit Jersey added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Liberty Bus. Their customer-first focus means our visitors will be receiving a warm TIC welcome and provided with information and ideas to help make their trips even more memorable.”
