Dining group bows out of ports

Friday 03 July 2020

The catering group behind Bella Italia has confirmed that it is bowing out of the eateries it runs at the harbour and airport as the company goes into administration.

Ports of Jersey has confirmed that Casual Dining Group (CDG) has gone into administration and they are now seeking a new catering partner to run its nautical-themed restaurant at the airport and arrivals café at the airport.

A spokesperson has indicated that the Ports are “close to finalising contracts” with a new caterer.

The group also runs the arrivals café at the airport as well was Bella Italia in York Street, but the pizzeria’s fate has not yet been confirmed.

Chief Commercial Officer for Ports of Jersey, Jonathan Crick issued a statement confirming the news, saying: “We are saddened to hear confirmation from CDG today that due to the impact the Corona virus has had on its business, the company will no longer be operating its catering concessions at Jersey Airport and Elizabeth Terminal, St Helier Harbour.

“We have been liaising with the company for some weeks and are very disappointed to lose a valuable catering partner and the great working relationship we have built up over the past few years. Since [CDG] filed notice of its intention to appoint administrators on 18 May 2020, Ports of Jersey has been working on contingency arrangements. We are close to finalising contracts with our preferred new catering partner and expect to be able to make a formal public announcement very soon”.

It was also hoped that the dining group would open a new restaurant as part of the Future Airport development, but that project has been put on hold pending a States-ordered review.
