Elderly pedestrian hit by car in critical condition

A 71-year-old pedestrian who was allegedly hit by a car on Friday is in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit at Jersey's General Hospital.

The accident happened around 9:30 on Queen's Road in the area around the Pet Cabin and the Food Hall on Friday.

The pedestrian - whose name isn't being released - was taken by ambulance to the hospital and treated at the Emergency Department.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention and driving whilst unfit.

The road was closed for about two hours whilst police carried out an investigation.
