Jersey's Infrastructure Department says it’s timed carrying out essential road repairs with half term in an attempt to minimise disruption.
But, it still says drivers using the inner road may experience delays and is advising motorists to allow more time for their journey.
The road that’s being resurfaced – a section of St Aubin’s Inner Road - is from Tyneville Lane to Bellozane Road. The department says “the road is in great need of repair as it is showing fatigue primarily due to utility trenches and age.”
Traffic lights are going to be in operation from 9:15 to 15:15 all this week, and on Thursday night from 19:00 until 23:00. No work is being carried out on Saturday, but on Sunday there will be a full road closure from Route es Nouaux to West Park roundabout from 08:00 till 20:00.
It’s hoped to have the work finished by next week in time for students going back to school after the half term break, but if the weather’s bad and it disrupts the work it could go on for a further week.
There’ll still be access to premises during the work, although this may be restricted when the final road surface is being laid.
Diversions will be in place via Victoria Avenue. All buses will follow the diversions during the road closures and temporary bus stops will be located at First Tower.
