Following a casting call for 16 local children, Durrell will be premiering their short film, ‘ReWild our World,' and launching their new strategy today at 15:00.
400 applicants, aged six to 17 years old, applied to to be cast in the short film, which portrays Durrell's vision for a "wilder, healthier, more colourful world."
The short film will be premiered during a green carpet event at the Durrell Discovery Centre in the presence of Durrell CEO, Dr Lesley Dickie. She will present a kid-friendly version of the charity's "exciting vision for a wilder, healthier, more colourful world."
Dr Dickie said: “Durrell’s new vision for a wilder, healthier and more colourful world will drive the whole organisation here in Jersey and worldwide over the next nine years. Children are the next generation to inherit the planet, so the call to rewild is also their call, which we want to hear in their own voices. At Durrell we want to rewild children and reconnect them to nature.”

Durrell hopes the event will be an opportunity to thank their "diverse and charismatic cast, and their families – essential support crew during filming!" They also wish to inspire Jersey families to nurture a stronger connection to nature.
The Education team will present the Jersey Zoo based events and campaigns for 2018, including a Stray Wild Trail, Durrell’s 30 Days Wilder campaign and more.
