Hundreds of islanders speak up about women's health services

Sunday 25 February 2024

A survey launched to "identify any gaps" in women's healthcare received 400 responses within the first day, "making it clear that women want to have their say about their health and wellbeing needs".

The Women's Health and Wellbeing Survey was launched on Monday by the Government's Strategic Policy, Planning and Performance department.

It aims to review the health and wellbeing needs of women and girls to understand:

  • the factors that women and girls feel affect their health and wellbeing
  • the extent to which their health and wellbeing needs are met
  • any barriers they face in accessing health and wellbeing services
  • the areas women and girls want prioritised for improvement

All islanders are invited to share their views.

The survey can be completed based on your own experiences as a women or girl in Jersey, or on behalf of a specific woman or girl you know or care for.

There is also the option to register for focus group discussions and interviews.

Assistant Health Minister, Deputy Andy Howell said: "The Women's Health and Wellbeing Survey is being conducted to understand if women's health and wellbeing needs are being met, identify any gaps in services, and understand the priority areas for women and girls' health and wellbeing needs in Jersey.

“The survey, which launched on Monday, received 400 responses in the first 24 hours, making it clear that women want to have their say about their health and wellbeing needs."

She added: "The Government regularly conducts research to understand the health needs of islanders; previous focuses have included the Big Health and Wellbeing Conversation, Men’s Health Report, Jersey Opinions and Lifestyle Survey and the Termination of Pregnancy Survey.”

The Women's Health and Wellbeing Survey is set to run for three months, closing on 21 May 2024.

It can be accessed on gov.je/womenshealth, or paper copies are available at all parish halls.
