Jersey Police say they are investigating the "unexpected" death of a six-week-old baby.
In a press release the police say they "were called in the early hours of this morning following a call from Ambulance Service who had attended an address in St Lawrence in response to a 999 call and reports of a baby in distress.
The 6 week old baby was conveyed to the hospital where death was subsequently confirmed.
The death is being treated & investigated as unexplained. Specialist Family Liaison Officers are working in support of the family at this time as police investigations continue, working with multi-agency partners from both Health & Viscount's Department."
