All bus journeys on Christmas Eve will be free of charge for the first time ever to help islanders have an "enjoyable Christmas experience", while also “bolstering the local retail and hospitality sectors”.
LibertyBus will be running a Sunday service on 24 December, with the last buses from town due to depart at or before 9pm.
The company’s Director, Kevin Hart, said: “Christmas is a time for coming together and creating memories with loved ones. By offering free bus journeys on Christmas Eve, we hope to make it easier for everyone to connect on the day.
“We encourage the community to use sustainable transport options and reduce the environmental impact while enjoying the festivities.”
He added: “LibertyBus remains committed to supporting sustainable transportation solutions, and this initiative aligns with their ongoing efforts to promote eco-friendly practices within the community.
“By providing complimentary bus journeys, LibertyBus aims to reduce the reliance on individual vehicles, contributing to a more environmentally conscious and enjoyable Christmas experience for all.”
Meanwhile, Police are continuing their 'What's your plan?' campaign to ensure that all islanders out and about over the festive period have a lift home.
The aim is to ensure the safety of islanders – and to clamp down on drink-driving.
At the launch of the campaign at the beginning of this month, Police said that more than 100 people had been reported for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Schedules can be found on the company's website here.
