A driver had a “lucky escape” when a passer-by rescued him from his car when had burst into flames last night.
It came after the driver lost control of his vehicle, crashing into a pedestrian crossing at Bel Royal.
A member of the public managed to assist the driver to safety and put out the flames using an extinguisher from the nearby Burger Bar.
Following a 999 emergency call, six fire fighters were sent to the scene.
By the time they got there, however, a member of the public had already saved the driver from the flames and put out the fire using a borrowed extinguisher.

It is believed that the driver’s injuries are not life threatening.
The Fire Service praised the bravery of the members of public who came to the driver’s aid.
