Man admits supplying MDMA and cannabis

A 25-year-old man has been remanded in custody after admitting a series of drugs offences, including dealing MDMA and cannabis.

Jack Taylor pleaded guilty to two charges of supplying illegal drugs - one for cannabis and another, described as the "most serious", relating to MDMA - in the Royal Court on Friday.

He also admitted possessing MDMA and cannabis resin, and pleaded guilty to an additional charge of possessing cannabis resin with intent to supply.

His lawyer, Advocate Michael Haines, made an application for bail, arguing that sending Taylor to custody now would mean he may serve "an unnecessary prison sentence", as all sentencing options, including community service, were still open.

Crown Advocate Richard Pedley said that Taylor had been found with 800g of cannabis and was suspected to have supplied at least six grams of MDMA - a Class A drug sometimes known as 'ecstasy'. He therefore argued that Taylor would be likely facing a custodial sentence. 

The Deputy Bailiff, Tim Le Cocq, described Taylor's crimes as "very serious offences" and refused to grant him bail. He has been remanded in custody until next Friday when a date for his sentencing will be set.
