Police appeal after teenage girl hurt in alleged hit-and-run

Wednesday 21 February 2024

Police are appealing for information after a van reportedly drove through a red light and hit a young girl on Queen's Road.

The incident happened at around 08:20 this morning, according to officers.

Police said that a silver Ford Transit Connect van stopped at the traffic lights by the Morrisons shop.

Before the lights turned green, the van drove forward and hit a teenage girl who was walking across the road at the time, they said in a statement explaining the reported sequence of events.

The van continued forward, failing to stop and check on the girl or call the police.

The girl sustained some pain to her leg but did not require any hospital treatment.

She went to school and notified them of what had happened.
