Gov "ready to serve" new Chief Minister

Tuesday 05 July 2022

The island's top civil servant has written to congratulate Jersey's Chief Minister-designate Kristina Moore, telling her: "The public service is ready to serve your forthcoming administration."

Kristina Moore secured the leading political role this morning with 39 votes in her favour.

She will be the island's first ever female Chief Minister.

Sharing her well wishes, Suzanne Wylie - herself the first woman to become Government CEO in Jersey - wrote: "I would like to, on behalf of all States of Jersey employees, congratulate you on your election as Chief Minister designate. The public service is ready to serve your forthcoming administration and, following their election next week, support Ministers in delivering your ambitions for the island.

“I look forward to getting to work with you and your Council of Ministers.”

Deputy Moore will only officially become Chief Minister when all of her Council have been appointed next week.

She has so far revealed that she would like Deputy Ian Gorst to be her Treasury Minister, Deputy Kirsten Morel as Economic Development Minister and newcomer Deputy Jonathan Renouf as Minister for Environment and Energy.

First elected as Deputy for St. Peter in 2011, Kristina Moore served as Home Affairs Minister from 2014 to 2018.

In May 2018, she was elected as a Senator and became Chief Scrutineer, as well as Chairing the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel.
