Two men have appeared in Jersey's Magistrate's Court charged with the alleged importation of cocaine.

Darren Paul Maidment (35) and Craig Patrick Yeowart (38) who are both from Liverpool, came before Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris on Monday 9 August.

Customs officers had seized a parcel weighing 1.2kg containing suspected cocaine at the Elizabeth Terminal on 7 August.

Mr Maidment was defended by Advocate Luke Sette, and Mr Yeowart was represented by Advocate Nicholas Mière.

Both men will return to the Magistrate's Court on 20 September for committal to the Royal Court, and are now remanded in custody.
