The landlord of the Trafalgar pub in St Aubin, will see his application for a live music licence go to a vote at a meeting in the parish hall tonight.
Neil Whitbourn says he has a licence to play acoustic music - without the use of a microphone - and karaoke, but not for live amplified music.
He said: “This pub was always famous for being a cracking live music venue and we used to get bands from all over Jersey playing here and people travelling to come and watch them. I stopped that in February as my licence only covered acoustic and karaoke music, so this is just a bid to bring it back.
“I am very careful about noise levels as a I have a ten-month-old son living above the pub so I know how important it is for noise levels to be kept to a minimum. I am only applying for a licence which would allow a singer and a guitarist to play amplified music, nothing too loud, but loud enough so when there are 30 or 40 people in the bar they can hear it.
“I am very careful about noise pollution and the pub closes at 23:00 sharp, even at the weekends.”
Anyone interested in the live music application should go to the parish hall tonight at 19:00 where there will be a vote on the licence.
