Three tenants of a St. Helier property have been relocated to a hotel for their safety after a five-metre wall suddenly collapsed against their home.
It is unknown when the concrete garden partition at Andium Homes-managed Don Close estate buckled, but the Emergency Services were first informed by a member of the public around 11:45 this morning.
Fortunately, no one was hurt during the structure’s collapse.

One Fire Service truck attended the Andium property, which was damaged and left surrounded by a significant amount of rubble, and cordoned off the area around the wall.
Andium officials later attended to assess the extent of the damage to the building and any potential risks to Don Close residents, telling Express: “Safety of our tenants is paramount.”

A spokesperson for the social housing provider has since confirmed that the wall has now been demolished and the road reopened.
While they believe the six-unit site to now be safe, some residents have now been moved to temporary alternative accommodation as a precautionary measure.

“We have relocated three tenants to a hotel overnight just to be sure, but fully expect them to return to their homes tomorrow,” the spokesperson explained.
“The building is safe and no services have been affected, the residents are happy. Just one window that will need replacing so we will get that done as soon as possible.”
