Feel good festival Groove de Lecq returned to its woodland playground to another sold out success with thousands flocking to Greve de Lecq for a groovy time.
The sun was shining and spirits were high throughout the day as more than 70 local performers inundated festival goers' ears with music and provided tons of fun for nearly 12 hours.
There was a lot to choose from in the grounds of Groove de Lecq and you would have had to be quite picky not to find something to your taste. Nestled close to the Moulin, the colourful festival site included several stages, a variety of food trucks and as many entertainment opportunities as you can think of.

There were the traditional groove staples, fancy dress, face painting, glitter tattoos, and carnival procession. But there were also more unusual ones; such as human 'Hungry Hippos'. Up on 'The Ring' the team from Channel Islands World Wrestling gave spectators a round for their money.

The main action was however found on the music stages. With eight of them scattered across the site and as many different music genres, the Groovers were able to go from reggae to electro and folk to rock. One strange peculiarity attracted the festival wildlife. Set a bit further from the main stage, the intriguing Woodland stage saw seven musicians perform in the middle of the trees, much to the enjoyment of the crowd. Beau Waugh enchanted his audience with covers of the Proclaimers and Oasis among others.
Headliners Mozaics closed down the festival. The local quartet, made of Christian Silver, Craig Farrell, Chris Nutter and Tom Quenault, played for over an hour on the iQ stage with hundreds of groovers singing their songs with them. Under the moonlight, the crowd happily swayed to the songs of their rock tunes before the festival spell ended.

Elsewhere on the Reggae beach, people were enjoying a club atmosphere with electro sounds mixed by eight different DJ's. Things got very sweaty under the very packed Saloon Bar as Joe Young and the Bandits came on stage and had everyone bouncing enthusiastically by the end of the first verse.

Groove Collective's family friendly festival was once again a huge success with islanders of all ages attending the event. Even more people got to enjoy 'Jersey Utopia,' an expansion of the festival right by the Greve de Lecq Barracks open to all, for free. With fun rides for kids, a large selection of food stalls and even a series of talks on the environment, this new set up was a huge success. Rumour has it that groovers already can't wait for next year's festival.
