The winner of the ninth annual Lieutenant-Governor’s Cadet Competition was announced at a ceremony earlier this week.

Cadet Corporal Jemimah Kalule of the Jersey Army Cadet Force won the Lieutenant-Governor’s trophy and a cheque for £1000 after impressing Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd with her presentation.

Three other young people from the Island Cadet Forces made presentations on their experiences being a cadet, their goals, and future aspirations: Oakley Johannsen and Mia Gicquel from the Air Training Corps and Thomas Waller from the Royal Navy Section of the Victoria College Combined Cadet Force.

The competition, which took place at the Grand Jersey, was hosted by the Rotary Club de la Manche.

Rotary Club President Tracy Conoops also presented a cheque to Darren Blake, representing Rock 2 Recovery, to help support their work with members of the Armed Forces, the veteran community, the Emergency Services and their families who are affected by stress.
