How I unwind: Frankie Rose, PT and wellness coach

Friday 14 April 2023

A personal trainer with a love of photography, Frankie Rose has been a freelance PT for 15 years and is currently based at Carrefour Metro in St. Helier.

She has a degree in Social Documentary Photography and has recently rediscovered her love for taking pictures.

She is also a wellness and lifestyle coach.

After a busy day at the gym, she like to unwind by reading something that she can pass on to others, practicing self-care, mindfulness, taking a walk and noticing the beauty in simple things around her.

I eat...

Eating a balanced diet of freshly prepared organic produce keeps my energy levels sustained throughout my busy days and prevents crashes and snack cravings.

A good dessert at the weekend would be some whole Greek yogurt with strawberries and mixed nuts. I also enjoy the occasional piece of good quality dark chocolate (Waitrose Ecuador 90% is perfection).

I drink...

I tend to avoid alcohol these days as I value my recovery and am sensitive to the sleep disturbance.

I drink about two-three litres of mineral water every day. Maybe a green tea in the morning if I have a particularly active day or I’m out for a boogie. My go-to treat drinks are KTea Kombucha or a turmeric latte with coconut milk.

I listen to...

If I’m in the gym all day and the music is pumping, by the time I get home I just need some peace and quiet. The calm app has a wide selection of soothing sounds to wind down after a busy day, I am particularly partial to the thunderstorm at bedtime.

At the weekend a walk in nature with just the sound of the wind or the waves is ideal.

I read...

I love reading, I get through at least a couple of books a month alongside my study material, all based around my career and my interest in health, nutrition and psychology. Anything to do with the human body and mind just fascinates me.

I watch...

YouTube is my uni, I get lost down a rabbit hole of podcasts and talks all debating the latest science and research around the current health trends and their validity. If my brain needs a break it will be something like The Diary of a CEO or Will Tennyson’s bodybuilding eating challenges.
