Guernsey boy Krisanth Moodliar has been named as the Channel Islands regional winner of Blue Cross’s new national art competition.
Aiming to raise awareness of the growing number of homeless pets, ‘Paws to Draw’ invited animal lovers of all ages to creatively draw a homeless pet who has since found a loving family thanks to the dedication of Blue Cross.
Krisanth’s picture was inspired by Robin the horse, who was rescued after being found abandoned by the roadside as a foal. After spending a year in the care of Blue Cross, he is now happily settled with his borrower.

Krisanth’s mum, Selina Moodliar, said Robin is very popular in their house.
“Kris loves horses and chose to draw Robin after I read Robin’s biography to him. We looked at his photograph and took a whole day to sketch the outlines. Then Kris wanted to make him a rainbow horse and that turned out to be a great idea.”
Krisanth said: “I love Robin. I want to bring him to my house in Guernsey.”

Seven winners from across the UK and CI were chosen from more than 1,130 entries.
The judging panel included former England goalkeeper, devoted pet lover, and keen artist, David James.
Wendy Hill, Group Head of Marketing & Communications at Blue Cross, said: “We’re thrilled with the response we’ve had to the Paws to Draw competition and all the wonderful drawings we received. We all love Kris’s picture of Robin the rainbow horse. It is vibrant, creative and brought a smile to all our faces.”
Regional winners will all receive a framed picture of their work, while the national winner’s work is featured in a national press campaign, which launched over the weekend.
