The 13th annual ’30 Bays in 30 Days’ challenge starts this week.
The fundraiser for Les Bourgs Hospice takes place throughout July helping to raise funds for the charity while also encouraging people to get into the sea more, at bays they would not normally go to.
Event founder Liz Stonebridge said: “This challenge was created in memory of loved ones cared for at Les Bourgs, and it continues to bring people together in a really special way.”
To bring even more people together the event offers three flexible options.
The classic challenge of ’30 Bays in 30 Days’ sees participants complete 30 strokes at each chosen bay, in any order, and at any pace.
’15 Bays in 30 Days’ is designed for people with busy schedules and new swimmers, while the ‘9 Bays in 30 Days’ challenge is a family friendly option with easy access beaches.
“Every sign up helps to provide free hospice care which makes such a difference to island families,” added Ms Stonebridge.
Swimmers are encouraged to raise at least £30 in donations or sponsorship to support the Hospice’s free, specialist palliative care.
Entry costs are £15 for adults, £5 for children, £35 for families, and £10 for the 15 Bays option.
It all starts with a community swim at Vazon, from 18:30 on Wednesday 1 July.
