Shake out the towels, give the bathers a stretch and get ready to head back into the water with Les Bourgs Hospice and its annual fundraiser.
The ’30 bays in 30 days’ swimming challenge is a key fundraiser for the charity, with a simple goal – to swim a minimum of 30 strokes in 30 different, specified bays between the first and penultimate day in July.
The charity says there’s some flexibility for participants to finish in August if needed.
There’s also some new ways to get involved this year with the standard ’30 bays’ version and a new ’15 bays’ for those with less time. The family option of completing ‘9 bays’ is also back, with a focus on being easily accessible.

The ’30 bays’ event was founded by Liz Stonebridge in memory of family members cared for by Les Bourgs Hospice.
The hospice provides free, specialist palliative care in the Bailiwick but receives no States of Guernsey funding, relying heavily on events like this to cover its running costs, which are approximately £8,000 per day.
The registration fee is kept low to encourage maximum participation and donations are crucial for its success.
Full information and registration are available on the events website HERE, but for adults, the ’30 bays’ option costs £15, whilst the ’15 bay’ option costs £10.
For children both the ’30’ and ’15 bay’ options are £5, and as a family, which is another ’30 bay’ option, the cost is £35.
There’s also the team entry, which is available for five people.

Registration can also be done at the launch swim or throughout the month.
The launch event with a group swim to mark the start of the challenge will be at Vazon at 18:30 on Tuesday 1 July.
