The Donkey Derby returns to Saumarez Park today with the animals and their jockeys all ready to go!
The donkeys arrived in Guernsey earlier this week and have been paired with their jockeys.
The races start at 13:00 but the event opens at 11:45 with refreshments and other activities available before the main entertainment begins.
The judges this year are Jurats Peter Girard and David Lowe OBE, while Jurat Heather Reed will be the steward.
Terry Lihou is the start official who will set the donkeys off in each race throughout the afternoon.
The Donkey Derby is organised annually by the Lions Club of Guernsey.
The lively community event always delivers a day of entertainment, laughter, and charitable giving, bringing together families, local businesses, and nonprofit organisations.
Past events have drawn thousands of attendees and raised significant funds for Lions Club initiatives.
Paul Allaway, President of the Lions Club of Guernsey, said it is always a great day for everyone involved.
“We’re delighted to bring back the Donkey Derby for another year of fun and fundraising. This event is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy a great day out, and support vital charitable work. Whether you’re racing, trading, or just cheering from the sidelines, everyone’s participation makes a real difference.”
