During Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re all encouraged to make one small action to check our own, or someone else’s wellbeing.
Guernsey Mind said this can be as simple as doing one small thing to support your own mental health, or simply checking in with someone that you care about.
The week-long awareness campaign has the theme ‘Action… for yourself, for someone else, for all of us’, reminding us that “even small actions can help us feel hopeful and less powerless”.
The Mental Health Foundation says, “while our individual actions matter, when we come together we are even more powerful”.
“We’ve chosen Action as this year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Week because, while awareness is vital, real change comes when we take action too,” said the Foundation.
“Together, we’ve come a long way on mental health, but we can’t risk going backwards. There’s still much we can do to prevent people becoming unwell in the first place.”

Guernsey Mind is supporting that message throughout this week – and said although mental health awareness matters all year round, this week will offer some great opportunities to raise further awareness.
Guernsey Mind will be sharing thoughtful messages all week to remind us of the benefits of taking small actions for ourselves and others.
The charity is also encouraging people to share any activities they might be doing too that others can join in with.
Guernsey Mind will be be supporting the monthly Healthcare Group Wellbeing Beach Clean on Thursday, and will be at the Charities’ Seafront Sunday next weekend.
Future events are already being planned too, including the Gower Sunrise Walk of Hope taking place on Sunday 21 June.
The popular Investec 10K Challenge returns on Sunday 23 August.
