Gusto, Pingquay, Balthazar and Mora will have outdoor seating on the footpath, with pedestrians diverted around it via a new temporary walkway.
The trial to improve al fresco dining in the area will start later this week, the States has confirmed, and will run until the end of October.
E&I said measures will be taken ensure pedestrian safety: “To demarcate the temporary walkway and to act as a safety barrier for people on foot, planters will be used at intermediate positions along the edge of the northbound carriageway, with small fillets of asphalt installed between the footway and the temporary walkway to make it easier for people to navigate, especially those pushing buggies or people using wheelchairs or mobility scooters.”
The success of Seafront Sundays is one of the inspirations behind the trial, which should give an idea of public appetite.
