Police have confirmed a body has been found in Alderney and a 44-year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He is in police custody while being treated at the island’s hospital, where he is believed to be stable.
Work is ongoing in Alderney to identify the deceased and to “establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to support those who may be affected,” said Detective Superintendent Jonathan Bancroft from Guernsey Police.
Emergency services, including the RNLI lifeboat, attended the scene at The Guns this morning, where the person was found dead.
DS Bancroft said police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death at this time but he appealed for anyone with information to contact Guernsey Police.
“Anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Guernsey Police on 01481 222222, quoting reference OC26*7304,” he said.
“The emergency services will be highly visible in Alderney this morning, and this is a fast moving investigation, so we would ask the public to refrain from speculation while initial enquiries are completed,” he added.
