An excellent weekend all round for the Jersey Bulls saw impressive wins for both the Men’s senior and U23’s, while the Women’s side secured their first point of the season.
On Friday evening, Elliot Powell’s men travelled to Bedfont Sports for what proved one of the more exciting games of the season so far.
Frontman Lorne Bickley opened the scoring after 8 minutes, with new signing Jarma Mohamed making it two on 21 minutes. However the hosts rallied with two of their own to even it up at half time.
The Bulls regained the lead after 65 minutes thanks to Sammy Henia-Kamau to make it 3-2 and they held on for an important win which keeps them unbetaten in the Isthmian South East division and in 9th place at present.
The Bulls Women returned to action after a challening week, following the injury last time out to winger Taylor Smythe.
They responded well though with a 1-1 draw away at Fleet Town Development.
Skipper Holly Sundby grabbed the opener on 13 minutes, their first goal of the league season in their second game. However, the home side rallied in the second half and snatched an 86th minute equaliser to share the points.
Sundby herself admitted they “probably should have scored 3 or 4 in the first half”, while both Sundby and manager Chad Morris expressed how impressed they were with 16-year-old debutante Grace Clarke.
Back at Springfield, the Bulls U23’s eased to a 4-0 victory over Binfield U23’s in the Suburban Cup.
Luke Lister opened the scoring, before Fergus Boyle raised the roof from 25 yards to make it two. Callum Gilroy and Seaney McColgan also netted to seal the comfortable scoreline and ensure the future of the Bulls remains looking sparkly.
