Blanchelande College is celebrating its history across the school’s former sites.

The College recently celebrated its 25th anniversary at Les Vauxbelets and with that occasion in mind, the Alumni has also arranged reunion events for pupils with connections to the school in its former guises.

A number of ‘old girls’ gathered at the St Martin’s site in June, with past pupils’ of the Rosaire Avenue site due to gather later this month.

The College is inviting former students and staff to attend that event on 26 July.

The St Martin’s reunion was held at the former College site above Moulin Huet.

It is now a nursing and care home complex, but many of the school buildings were retained when the site was redeveloped.

Anne Thomas, Head of Alumni Relationships and Events, said it was an enjoyable afternoon.

“A wonderful summer’s afternoon was enjoyed by everyone, reminiscing with multiple year groups, spanning some 50 years. We hope that this will become a regular event in the calendar.”

Following the closure of the Convent at the St Martin’s premises in 1992, Blanchelande relocated to Rosaire Avenue in St Peter Port with 41 students, before moving on to Les Vauxbelets in 1999.

The College has since evolved into a co-educational school for children from age 2½ -18.

Many of today’s pupils have parents or other relatives who attended school at either Rosaire Avenue or St Martin’s, said Ms Thomas.

“The College recognises the immensely strong bonds that are formed by all cohorts which we are proud to support and maintain, with such connections bringing valuable benefits for all.”

The Blanchelande College Alumni has invited past pupils from the Rosaire years to attend the upcoming reunion on 26 July.

Attendees can sign up at: Rosaire Alumni Reunion and become a member of the Alumni too.
