The Vale Earthlings’ Ball

The first Vale Earth Fair was held in 1976 as a charitable event, and this has continued for 50 years, supporting both international and local charities, including The Burma Campaign UK, the Linda Norgrove Foundation, and Safer (LBG).

Continuing the celebrations this year, the Vale Earth Fair Collective, in partnership with St James, brings you The Vale Earthlings’ Ball this Friday 16 October!

Not only will there be super stellar music, but also an opportunity to own a piece of Earth Fair history as the event auctions off the extraterrestrial creations that form part of the Alien Trail around the island.

Straight from outer space to Guernsey, HENGE are bringing you music from distant planets. These extra-terrestrial joymongers have been delighting audiences in the UK and Europe since they landed on Planet Earth ten years ago. Their scintillating live performances earned them ‘Best Live Act’ at the Independent Festival Awards, and they have since cemented their reputation with four acclaimed albums, numerous tours and regular main-stage festival appearances.

Joining them will be YAS, a five-piece Moroccan fusion band that brings together the hypnotic rhythms of Gnawa with the energy and groove of Western musical traditions. Rooted in the driving pulse of West African and North African rhythms, their sound blends funk, blues, rock and subtle dance influences into a vibrant, contemporary musical journey.

Also supporting the night is Ediths Head, straight off the back of their VEF 50th anniversary performance. The band is steeped in VEF history, as founder Errol Groves was their much-loved percussionist, making this an amazing opportunity to see some of the people he performed with.

Expect funky tunes with infectious grooves that will get you dancing.

Doors and bar open at 7pm. Support a great cause and enjoy an incredible night of music.

The William Morris Collective presents: Radical Beauty

The William Morris Collective’s inaugural exhibition, Radical Beauty, is now open at St Stephen’s Church.

Drawing to a close this Saturday 17 October, this is your last chance to visit this wonderful showcase.

Open from 10am to 6pm, the exhibition celebrates the extraordinary stained-glass windows of St Stephen’s, designed by William Morris, the globally recognised designer, poet, author and social activist associated with the British Arts and Crafts movement.

The William Morris Collective aims to create a Guernsey Arts and Crafts revival, elevating the heritage crafts of our island alongside those of local artists, rooted in the honouring of the beauty and fragility of our natural world.

The exhibition is free and open to all. Enjoy the show!

GADOC presents: Come From Away

GADOC are back at Beau Sejour Theatre for six fabulous performances of their latest production, Come From Away.

Come From Away tells the remarkable story of the immediate aftermath of 9/11, when American airspace closed and hundreds of planes were diverted across North America, 38 of which landed in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland.

This uplifting musical celebrates the kindness, generosity and resilience shown by the people of Gander as they welcomed thousands of stranded passengers into their community.

The first show will take place this Saturday 17 October, followed by daily performances next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Every show starts at 7.30pm.
