Musical Director Elizabeth Beacom first watched the adult-themed production at the age of nine.
“It was probably inappropriate for me to be watching it at that age, but the tunes are so catchy and well written,” she said.
“I love how well the ‘voice leading’ is written in the harmonies. There’s usually one song in a musical that’s a bit rubbish, but every song in this one is a great song.”

Miss Beacom’s mother, Hannah Beacom, will play the keyboard in the local production.
She explained that she hadn’t realised the musical included references to sex, alcohol and pornography before taking her daughter to see it.
“Someone performed an extract from the musical at the Eisteddfod and I loved it, but I didn’t realise it had been sanitised,” she said.
“I bought tickets for the West End show and got a bit of a surprise when we went, but I’ve loved it ever since.”

The puppets from the West End show were secured for the production and should arrive in the island a few weeks ahead of opening night.
Tickets have nearly sold out for the show, which will run from Thursday 2 June to Saturday 4 June at Beau Sejour.
