At least three candidates are expected to be put forward for the upcoming by-election when nominations open this week.

Between 09:00 on Monday 23 March and 16:30 on Wednesday 25 March, candidates can hand in their nomination forms at the Royal Court.

The nomination forms must be submitted in person by the candidate themselves.

Each candidate must be nominated and seconded, with all three people meeting the criteria for the election, which includes having their name on the electoral roll.

More information on how to stand and the criteria can be found at byelection2026.gg/standing/how-to-stand/

Express understands that Carl Meerveld and Nikki Symons will be nominated having both stood in last June’s general election.

Stephen Rouxel has also declared his intention to stand.

The by-election is being held on 29 April with one seat available in the States of Deliberation.
