The nomination period for candidates for the June election opens today.
Those hoping to be elected to the States must be nominated and seconded in writing, with their forms submitted between today and 16:00 on Wednesday.
Nomination forms with the relevant signatures and declarations must be handed in at the Bailiff’s Chambers, at the Royal Court.
A list will be published daily at the end of Monday 12 May, Tuesday 13 May, and Wednesday 14 May giving a running summary of who has been nominated before the nomination period closes on Wednesday afternoon.
Candidates for June’s General Election can also, from today, submit their entries for the manifesto booklet and candidate page on the election2025.gg website.
Each candidate has the option of having either two or four A4 pages within the Manifesto Booklet that will be delivered to each residential address where voters have registered.
Those manifestos will be reproduced in the booklet as submitted by candidates, with no design support offered through the States of Guernsey which is only facilitating the production of the booklet.
Deputy Carl Meerveld; President of the States’ Assembly & Constitution Committee, said there are specific requirements prospective candidates need to meet for that manifesto booklet.
“All submissions must meet certain format specifications to ensure they can be reproduced within the space and printing limits,” he said.
He stressed that all entries are “print ready” before being submitted.
“When we published the guidance on 7 April, our Committee strongly encouraged
prospective candidates to read it and prepare early. We did this in recognition that in
order to achieve our aim of giving candidates a much greater degree of flexibility to
submit a manifesto in their own style and with the content displayed as they wish it
to be.”

Each election candidate will also have the option of having their own page on the election website.

“The submission window begins today and candidates have a full week to submit
their entry.
“This ensures that, should there be any issues with their entry not
meeting the specification requirements, they have enough time to rectify it before
the submission deadline,” said Deputy Meerveld.
“The key message from the Committee to candidates last month and now is: please
review the guidance, prepare your entry and submit it early,” he added.
Every candidate will also have the option of having their own page on www.election2025.gg.
