A double crewed ambulance was at the harbour before the yacht docked, but due to the “injuries and challenging nature of the case”, an ambulance incident officer and the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service were also needed.
A spokesperson for St John Ambulance and Rescue Service said: “The patient was assessed and given initial treatment in situ on the boat, before fire crews assisted with the safe extrication of the casualty who was then taken to hospital”.

The ambulance and rescue service had been called to the harbour earlier on Friday too, after a cruise ship passenger needed treatment.
The patient was visiting the island on board the Jewel of the Sea, a 2,500 passenger vessel which had sailed to us from Holyhead before heading to Dover.
The passenger was brought ashore by the cruise ship’s tender before being assessed by the ambulance crew at the harbour, who then took them to the PEH.
