Saving 26% on flights might sound like a fantastic deal, but Aurigny’s latest sale has left some Alderney residents frustrated.
That’s because – unlike Guernsey – Alderney’s schedule has only been published until the end of October, meaning anyone wanting to fly later in the year can’t take advantage of the sale.
“At the moment we can only book until 31 October and have just two weeks to take advantage of the offer,” one resident said on social media.
Sam Talbot, Aurigny’s Head of Marketing, told Express the company was working hard to “make the remaining schedules available as soon as possible”.
It would “continue to introduce promotional offers as additional flights become available”, he added.
Last year, the Alderney routes didn’t go on sale until 18 June, but the company recognised that “some customers wish to book further ahead” while the sale was on, Mr Talbot said.
However, the company would expect demand for November and December to be “relatively limited at this stage”.
The “vast majority” of bookings made on other routes using the discount code were for travel before the end of October, with only 19% being for flights in November and December, he told Express.
£32k saved
Mr Talbot said more than 2,100 people had flown on Alderney routes using a discount code, saving a total of £32,843 between them.
He said: “Aurigny remains committed to supporting Alderney’s community and providing the best possible value in what is a high-cost operating environment for regional airlines.
“We’re hopeful this demonstrates the ongoing provision Aurigny makes for Alderney within its offers.”
Mr Talbot said that all Aurigny tickets that were on sale were eligible for the 26% discount, with more than 250,000 seats available.
