Deputy Steve Falla has been made the Lead Member for External Relations and Constitutional Affairs “for the time being” following the arrest of Deputy Le Tocq last week.
Policy and Resources said their decision, which followed a meeting on Friday (25 July), was due to the “change in circumstances regarding active membership of the Committee”.
The Lead Member for External Relations and Constitutional Affairs in Guernsey is responsible for representing the island’s interests on the international stage and managing its constitutional relationships.
The role was previously held by Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq, who will not be participating in Policy and Resources Committee activities until the conclusion of an ongoing police investigation.
The Committee said in a statement that it was “a requirement under the Rules of Procedure to have a Lead Member” for External Relations and Constitutional Affairs.
Deputy Le Tocq was arrested last Monday (21 July).
Bailiwick Law Enforcement confirmed in a statement that a man of his age had been arrested on suspicion of “telecommunications offences”.
No charges have been brought.
