Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq has been arrested and is currently the subject of an ongoing police investigation, it has been confirmed.

The 61-year-old politician was arrested on Monday morning and enquiries are “ongoing”.

Guernsey’s Policy & Resources Committee says it has unanimously agreed that Deputy Le Tocq will not participate in any Committee business while the investigation continues.

The Committee released the following statement this evening:

In the 2025 Guernsey Election, Deputy Le Tocq was successfully re-elected as a People’s Deputy, receiving 8,002 votes, which placed him 9th overall among the 38 elected deputies.

Following the election, Deputy Le Tocq was successfully nominated to join Guernsey’s top committee, P&R.

He had previously served in the island’s top political position between 2014 and 2016.

Shortly before P&R’s statement, Bailiwick Law Enforcement informed the island’s media that “a 61-year-old man” had been arrested on Monday morning “on suspicion of telecommunications offences”.

They said enquiries were “ongoing”, adding: “We would remind the community that this investigation is ongoing and no one has been charged with any offence at this stage.”

Both Bailiwick Law Enforcement and P&R said they would not be commenting further on the matter.
