Following on from the success of last year’s event, off-duty volunteers from the Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service will be collecting trees from households and businesses in exchange of donations for The Firefighters Charity.
Charlie Roger, one of the volunteer firefighters, said: “This year we’re once again looking to collect Christmas Trees from around the island to raise money for the Firefighters Charity.
“It’s a cause that is clearly very close to the hearts of all of us at the GFRS, and we wanted to do something to raise support for them, while also giving back to the community,” he said.
“All of the collections will be done in our free time, and we’d be grateful for any donations people are willing to give,” Mr Rogers added.
Islanders are advised that only real trees will be collected and any sprayed with fake snow or similar, will not be accepted.
Collections are set to start soon after Christmas and will continue into the New Year and people should email or text their address and preferred collection day nearer the time.
Dates will be shared on the Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service Facebook page.
