The volunteer crew of the Flying Christine III have been on five call outs over the past seven days – continuing a busy spell that has so far lasted all year.
There has been at least one call out per week on average so far this year with 32 patients across the Bailiwick needing the assistance of the Flying Christine III by yesterday.
St John Ambulance said the five call outs recorded over the past week including two emergency requests for help from Alderney, as thousands of residents and visitors joined together to celebrate Alderney Week.
On Friday evening, the Flying Christine III was asked to bring a patient from Braye Harbour to St Peter Port.
The marine ambulance was already in Alderney as part of the Alderney Week events, meaning a quick transfer was arranged to bring the patient across for treatment at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. They arrived in St Peter Port Harbour just after 21:00 on Friday.
The volunteer crew then had to take the Flying Christine III back to Alderney on Saturday night to pick up an injured patient who also needed treatment at the PEH. The marine ambulance arrived back in Guernsey at 01:40 Sunday morning.

The 32 call outs so far this year have included runs to Sark and Herm as well as Alderney.
The marine ambulance service is a charitable asset, run by St John on behalf of the Bailiwick. It is funded by ambulance subscriptions, donations, and sponsorship. The marine fuel is sponsored by Moonpig.
