The owners of the former Le Chalet Hotel site have got planning permission to build 15 apartments there.

This is the third time such permission has been given for a new development there since the hotel closed in 2012.

The Swiss-style building has been vacant ever since and has deteriorated considerably since it was last used as visitor accommodation.

Previous owners had looked to redevelop the hotel or use it as staff accommodation, however those plans never materialised despite receiving planning permission.

In 2019, the-then owner – Vista Hotels – was given permission to turn the 39-bed hotel into 15 residential units. That permission was renewed in 2022, and it then expired earlier this year, by which time the property had been bought by FV Holdings.

FV Holdings re-submitted the plans late last year before the previous permission lapsed.

The current owner has now got permission to build five one-bedroom flats, nine two-bedroom flats, and one three-bedroom flat, over a five storey building.

Two of the new flats will be split over two floors, while each other unit will be over one floor.

Each flat will each have either an individual balcony or access to a terraced area, in addition to communal gardens.

The DPA has attached some conditions to the permission though including safety measures to the walkway connecting the planned premises and the car park area.
