A flock of feathered fugitives has the GSPCA scratching its head after reports of stray turkeys roaming across Guernsey.
One lone bird has been spotted strutting around the Anytime Fitness area in St Peter Port, while at least four of its feathered friends have been regularly seen gobbling up attention around Coutanchez, Capelles and Longcamps near Grow Limited.
The GSPCA says the birds appear to be in good condition and may simply be enjoying a free-range lifestyle. However, the charity is keen to track down their owner and put public concerns to rest.
GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said the charity deals with thousands of lost and found animals every year, including the occasional more unusual case.
“We do receive reports of stray turkeys from time to time and are normally able to trace the owners fairly quickly,” he said.
While the St Peter Port bird may be a recent arrival, the group near Grow Limited is believed to have been roaming the area for quite some time.
Despite appearing healthy, the GSPCA is hoping to get to the bottom of the mystery.
“We would very much like to identify the owner so that we can reassure those who have contacted us with concerns,” Mr Byrne added.
