Apollo, and his owner Ethan Lalor, are seeking public support in raising £8,000 to fix a problem in his esophagus, and help prevent the possibility of euthanasia. 

The two year old has a congenital vascular ring anomaly, essentially meaning he cannot eat properly, and will face a declining standard of life if the appropriate surgery, monitoring, and care is not made available. 

Mr Lalor says Apollo has already had a big impact on his fellow Sark residents: “Apollo is a Sark-born dog with the kind of gentle, joyful nature that makes everyone fall in love with him the moment they meet him. 

“He’s been by my side almost every single day of his life — he comes to work with me, he goes everywhere with me, and if I ever arrive somewhere without him, the first thing people ask is ‘where’s Apollo?’.”

Like the best examples of man’s best friend, Apollo means a lot to Mr Lalor, with his gentle nature and kind spirit providing support.

“He’s been my rock through some of the hardest times in my life, and I honestly can’t imagine a life without him. Hearing that he needs life-saving surgery has been devastating, but I’m doing everything I possibly can to give him the chance he deserves,” said Mr Lalor.  

He added: “The kindness and support people have shown means more to me than I can ever put into words.”

Apollo’s owner confirmed that the money donated will be used for the corrective surgery to release the vascular ring and relieve the esophageal constriction, as well as the pup’s hospitalisation and post-operative care.

It will also help cover the ongoing treatment and monitoring costs, as well as any necessary scans, tests, and emergency care. 

Mr Lalor said: “Every amount donated whether it’s big or small helps us get closer to our goal of giving this good boy the second chance at life that he truly deserves, he’s impacted so many lives in the 2 years he’s been on this earth and I am eternally grateful to everyone that is helping to save his life.”
