Apollo, a two-year-old Sark native, will be able to have a life saving operation, and follow up treatment, thanks to the generosity of the Bailiwick.
His owner, Ethan Lalor, set up a fundraiser for Apollo in order to get corrective surgery to fix a problem in his esophagus, and to prevent the possibility of euthanasia.
The dog has a congenital vascular ring anomaly, meaning he cannot eat properly, and was facing a declining standard of life.
A target of £8,000 was set on JustGiving, ensuring the funds were available for his surgery, and pre-op and post-op care.
Yesterday the fundraiser was still £1,000 away from hitting the target, but thanks to an anonymous donation of £895, that goal has now been reached.
Having secured the necessary amount, Mr Lalor says Apollo’s surgery has been booked, and he offered his thanks for the outpouring of community support.
“I’m absolutely overwhelmed and deeply moved to share that we have officially hit our fundraising target. Because of your kindness, generosity, and willingness to share Apollo’s story, he now has the chance to get the life-saving surgery he desperately needs.
“Thank you to every single person who donated, shared the page, sent messages, or simply held us in their thoughts. Your support has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and given Apollo a real chance at a healthy, happy future.
“Apollo’s surgery is now officially booked for 9 December, and I’ll keep the JustGiving page updated with every stage of his journey, from pre-op to recovery. Knowing that he has an entire community behind him means more than I can ever express.
