The Commodore Goodwill sailed out of St Peter Port Harbour for the final time this morning, ahead of being sold by Brittany Ferries.
The ship has served the Channel Islands under the Commodore Shipping and Condor Ferries brands since the 1990s carrying vital freight supplies.
She is listed for sale on shipselector.com for €14million as part of Brittany Ferries restructuring of the fleet after becoming the majority shareholder of Condor Ferries last year.
Goodwill had been scheduled to leave Guernsey at 09:00 for her return sailing to Portsmouth, but she eventually set sail at 10:46, blowing her horn as she departed.
There were a small number of people bidding the ship a fond farewell as she left Guernsey for the final time today, including former Commodore Captain Michael Child.
Mr Child was watching from the harbour building roof as Goodwill was unloaded and loaded this morning before setting sail.
