From shattered roofs and smashed cars to trees ripped from the ground, Storm Goretti left its mark across Guernsey in the early hours.
Winds up to 111mph were recorded in Alderney with at least 95mph recorded in Guernsey.
Some of the gusts were hurricane strength at Force 12.
Damage was reported from early in the evening as trees started to fall and debris flew from buildings and gardens.

Further damage was reported throughout the night with at least two blocks of flats in St Peter Port evacuated and around 50 residents moved to hotels.

A States spokesperson has confirmed some educational sites have been damaged – but the plan is to open as normal on Monday.

The official advice from the States of Guernsey remains to stay home today if you can – with employees that can work from home asked to do so.
This will keep the roads clear so the 64+ trees that have fallen can be cleared and other damage assessed and emergency repairs carried out.
