Emergency services had a “busy night” during Storm Goretti, but there were no reports of storm-related injuries.

Jersey Met Office has downgraded the wind warning to orange this morning following an night of high winds. 

Damage to trees, fences and cars was reported overnight, but the government confirmed this morning that there were no reports of storm-related injuries.

Islanders are being urged to travel with care amid reports of fallen trees and debris on the roads.

Schools in Jersey were all open this morning, with school bus services resuming this afternoon.

There was “minor damage” to the General Hospital which closed Gloucester Street temporarily, but the road is now open.

Normal services will resume at the hospital today, but it is expected to be “extremely busy”. Islanders are asked to only attend the Emergency Department in the event of a genuine emergency. 

Flights have resumed at the airport and freight services will arrive tomorrow mo​rning.

A dedicated helpline has been set up on 01534 448844 for non-emergency questions related to Storm Goretti.

It will be open between 7am and 5pm today for general queries in an attempt to keep emergency lines free for urgent situations.

Islanders can report non-emergency issues such as debris or fallen trees online.
