While bands played on Crown Pier, which was also packed with people enjoying the food and drink on offer, the water-based action began with the duck race as the rising tide rushed over the gate into the visitor marina.

It was then time for some frenzied action in the Ladies Dinghy race as teams splashed their way between the two piers as spectators lined the railings to grab a view.

There were some more dunkings as the tug-of-war competition on Albert Pier left the losing teams jumping into the harbour.

Reigning champions the Harbour Lights were nowhere to be seen as St Jacques Tavern took the title by overpowering a scratch team put together by the organisers at the last minute.

A combination of technical issues unfortunately led to the cancellation of the man power flight, while the evening drew to a close with a firework display.
