The organisers of the Guernsey Harbour Carnival want your help as they plan changes to one of the island’s landmark events.
Held on a summer high tide in St Peter Port harbour, the event has raised tens of thousands of pounds for numerous good causes with popular events including the man powered flight, the ladies’ dinghy race and the tug of war.
Now, the Round Table says the time is right to ‘reset’.
That includes deciding whether to hold future Harbour Carnivals on a Friday evening, as is traditional, or on a Saturday evening.
You can have your say in our poll:
President of the Guernsey Round Table,Tom Allison said the traditional Harbour Carnival will definitely return next year after taking a break in 2025, but they want you to decide if that is on a Friday or Saturday evening.
Whichever day of the week it is held, the Harbour Carnival will kickoff with the Duck Race, before the other events take place in St Peter Port Harbour throughout the evening.
Mr Allison said all of the events, including the tug of war and man powered flight remain as popular as ever.
And he said there may be room for some new events too, if that is what supporters, entrants, and spectators would like to see.
But for now, the organisers are focused on confirming what day of the week the Harbour Carnival is held to ensure as many people who want to attend are able to do so.

Mr Allison said the Harbour Carnival raises thousands of pounds for good causes every year and he wants that to continue.
It offers sponsorship and partnership opportunities for local businesses and organisations who also want to support the chosen charities.
The 2024 event supported the Channel Islands Air Search while previous events have raised money for the Guernsey Sea Cadets, the Lihou Island Trust, and the Guernsey Sports Commission.
With so many good causes needing support, Mr Allison said there are ample opportunities for the community to get involved for the wider benefit of those across the Bailiwick.
He said the Harbour Carnival will retain that community ethos at its heart when it returns in 2026.
He hopes that the public will get involved by choosing the day of the week they would like to see the Harbour Carnival held in the future and they can share any other suggestions too so it can remain a well-supported event with a carnival atmosphere.
