The search for a new Head of Arts Development at Guernsey Arts is on, after creative stalwart Russ Fossey announced his retirement, following a decade in the role.
The new lead will take over his work and be responsible for delivering a ‘Plan for the Arts’ both within the Bailiwick and overseas, as well as managing the team of Arts Development Officers, while also supporting local artists and organisations through funding and advice.
The not-for-profit body is dedicated to promoting a lively artistic community across all mediums, including film, music, and visual arts. During his decade in charge, Mr Fossey has delivered on this mandate, according to Stephen Ainsworth, the Chair of Guernsey Arts.
“Over many years, Russ has played a vital role in shaping Guernsey Arts, sharing his expertise, commitment and care with colleagues, creatives and the wider community.
“On behalf of all of us at Guernsey Arts, we thank Russ for his exceptional contribution over the last decade.”
Mr Ainsworth said Mr Fossey leaves big shoes to fill and they are already looking for a replacement.
“As he moves towards retirement, the organisation is looking to welcome a new Head of Arts Development who can build on this strong foundation and to lead on delivering the Plan for the Arts within the Bailiwick.”
Mr Fossey said his time at the top of Guernsey Arts has been both an honour, and a privilege.
“It’s been an honour to support the creative community, starting with the first Arts Sunday as a Non-Executive Director, before becoming the Head of Arts Development in 2016.
“It has been a privilege to support many artists and organisations through their creative journeys over the years.”
Anyone interested in putting themselves forward as a candidate is encouraged to contact Stephen Ainsworth or Helen Glencross MBE for an informal discussion before applying through the States of Guernsey recruitment portal.
