The Magic Flute Presented by Opera on Screen
Experience Mozart’s beloved masterpiece The Magic Flute as part of 2025’s free Opéra sur écrans screening. Brought to you by Opéra de Rennes, in association with Guernsey Arts and the Guernsey Institute, this year’s screening brings opera to the heart of communities across Brittany, the Pays de la Loire and the Channel Islands.
The Opera will be on for one night only, on Thursday 10th of July from 7pm – 10:15pm.
This enchanting new production, conducted by rising star Nicolas Ellis and directed by acclaimed theatre-maker Mathieu Bauer, reimagines the opera through the whimsical world of fairgrounds. Featuring a talented cast including Elsa Benoît and Florie Valiquette in exciting role debuts, and performed by the Orchestre National de Bretagne and Chœur de chambre Mélismes, this festive, family-friendly screening invites everyone to enjoy one of opera’s most magical works.

Japanese Calligraphy Evening
Have you been wanting to try your hand at a new artform? Now’s your chance!
On Wednesday the 18th of June at Iris and Dora Studios, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the beauty of the ancient art of Japanese calligraphy and produce your own hand drawn works using traditional methods.
Japanese calligraphy, known as “Shodo”, is one of the oldest surviving traditional Japanese artforms. Emerging in Japan in the 4th Century, the art of writing Kanji (Chinese characters) creates beauty through the careful use of space and character formation.
While focusing on the formation of the individual brush strokes in each Kanji, Shodo teaches deep concentration and mindfulness. By practicing Shodo, students can achieve improved focus and mental health, while also learning the history and meaning behind each Kanji.
All required course materials are provided for use during the session. These are of a high quality and have been imported directly from specialist suppliers in Japan.

Art at The Park: Celebrating Colour
‘Celebrating Colour’ is an upcoming exhibition at the Art at The Park Gallery, The Folk and Costume Museum, Saumarez Park; showcasing the vibrant works of artists Nelli Begg and Michelle Stringer!
Running from Tuesday, 3rd June, to Friday, 27th June, 10am until 5pm daily, this exhibition invites visitors to enjoy a dynamic exploration of colour and form.
Nelli Begg is renowned for her bold use of colour and compositions that evoke emotion and movement. Her pieces often draw inspiration from natural landscapes, people and animals, translating them into vivid, expressive artworks.
Michelle Stringer brings a complementary perspective with her intricate patterns and textured surfaces. Her work delves into the interplay between light and colour, creating pieces that are both visually stimulating and contemplative.
Together, Begg and Stringer present a collection that celebrates the power of colour to transform spaces and perceptions. The Art at The Park Gallery provides the perfect backdrop for this exhibition, with its spacious and light-filled environment enhancing the visual impact of the works on display.
Free admission. Please note the exhibition will close at 2pm on the final day.
Guernsey Together Festival 2025
Guernsey Together Festival returns this Saturday the 14th of June!
From its very first year, GTF has been dedicated to showcasing the outstanding local talent that makes our island’s music scene so special. Over the past five years, we’ve seen countless homegrown bands, artists, and DJs take to the festival stage, some of whom have gone on to achieve incredible success.
This year, fan-favourite local bands The Rubix and Buffalo Huddleston return to the Main Stage, alongside the island’s top DJs Josh Le Tissier, J4ck West, and Sisco, bringing their high-energy sets to the Performing Arts Stage. Headlining the stage will be none other than BBC Radio 1’s Rickie and Melvin, adding an exciting new dimension to the festival atmosphere.
The Guernsey Together Festival has always been about inclusivity and community, and this year is no different. Families can expect more activities than ever before, with dedicated spaces for children, engaging entertainment, and a variety of fun-filled experiences designed to create lasting memories for all ages.
