Guernsey Arts presents: Dear Unknown Friend
As part of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, Guernsey Arts has commissioned and curated “Dear Unknown Friend”, the 99th exhibition to take place in the Greenhouse Gallery.
This contemporary art exhibition focuses on the experiences and challenges surrounding the evacuation of Islanders, using artefacts provided by Island Archives and Guernsey Museums. Within the exhibition, you will find the work of 13 local artists whose pieces aim to give a voice to those who lived during the evacuation and to tell their stories.
This special exhibition will be opening on Friday the 28th of March and will run until Sunday the 22nd of June.
The museum is open daily from 10am – 5pm. Tickets can be obtained from the front desk, and are free with the Discovery Pass.
Sketch Night at the German Naval Signals Bunker
Calling all artists! Join the fabulous Guernsey Museums team for a one-of-a-kind Sketch Night at the historic German Naval Signals Bunker, next Monday the 31st of March!
Taking place from 6pm – 8pm, step into this atmospheric WWII-era bunker and let it inspire your work. Whether you are a seasoned sketcher or just starting out, this unique setting is the perfect place to test out your artistic skills.
German Naval Signals HQ is situated in St Jacques, St Peter Port, GY1 1SN. It is next door to La Collinette Hotel. Please note there is no on-site parking. Parking is available nearby at Candie Road, Beau Sejour and the Odeon Carpark.
Booking is essential, so be sure to reserve your space HERE!
Payment can also be made on the door. Adults £5 – FREE entry for Students or with a Discovery Pass. Bring your own sketching materials or use the ones provided. All skill levels welcome!
Art at The Park: ‘Edge of the Sea’ by Deb Soper
Next Tuesday the 1st of April, the Folk and Costume Museum at Saumarez Park will reopen for the 2025 season! With that, comes the opening of the first Art at The Park exhibition of the new year, ‘Edge of the Sea’ by mixed media artist, Deb Soper!
This captivating collection showcases ceramics and artwork inspired by the ever-changing shoreline, exploring the sea’s shifting palette, its interaction with the landscape, and its deep connection to island life.
Through her work, Deb invites us to reconsider the boundaries of the sea and its rhythmic presence in our daily lives.
Deb will be showcasing her ‘Edge of the Sea’ exhibition at the Art at the Park Gallery between Tuesday the 1st of April and Friday the 2nd of May.
The Gallery opens from 10am until 5pm daily, is accessible, friendly and has free entry. Please note that the exhibition will close at 2pm on the final day.
Night Voices – Poetry and Spoken Word Night
The wonderful Night Voices will be returning to JB Parker’s, next Thursday the 3rd of April from 7:30pm!
“In partnership with Wild Wolf Wellbeing, we’ll be hosting another poetry and spoken word night downstairs at JB Parker. It’s a safe, inclusive and relaxed atmosphere.
Spaces are limited, so we recommend getting there early if you want to get involved!”
This month’s poetry prompts are: bridge, catalyst, hush and borders.
