B Creative dancers are competing in the ‘On The Beat’ street dance competition in Manchester this weekend.
24 youngsters from the BC Cosmos Crew (11 years & under), BC Force Crew (13 years & under), and BC Nitrogen (16 & over) are travelling to the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham before their performances on Sunday.
Sponsored by Clarity, the young dancers will be in the ‘beginners’ categories but Head Coach Brandi Attewell said they will all learn so much.
“We took part in this competition last year for the first time, as the Jersey street dancers competitions we use to do are no longer running, and it was absolutely amazing,” said Mrs Attewell. “It was an absolute must to go again in 2025!
“It’s good for our street dancers to compete of island as there are no local competitions purely for street dance, and the judges for this competition are street dance professionals.
“It’s a fun opportunity and experience for them. We are only in the beginners category but there are intermediate and advanced so they will get to see and learn so much and they will have the best time ever!”

The 24 dancers are travelling with family, and coaches Seb Shepherd, Kali Le Patourel, and Lily De La Mare along with Mrs Attewell meaning 55 people are representing Guernsey at the national competition.
Mrs Attewell said “we are so excited for our students to have this opportunity”.
“When I was their age I use to compete off island so it’s nice to have found a friendly competition that suits B Creative. It gives them something to really work towards at the start of the year which we can also showcase at local performances.
“They have been learning their crew sets and rehearsing weekly since January as well as solo sets, which the organisers provide awesome choreography for them to learn, and also their freestyle solos.”
Ahead of travelling on Saturday, Mrs Attewell said everyone was getting very excited.
“This week their energy at rehearsals has been so high and they are all so excited to be going away. Some students who have never competed before are a little nervous but they are well supported by their crew members and coaches.”
